About the role
The Outpatient Department (OPD) Manager will lead the delivery of high‑quality nursing, midwifery and clinical services within the reproductive health outpatient unit. The role ensures safe, timely, respectful, evidence‑based care while maintaining clinical standards, infection‑prevention practices and efficient patient flow.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate daily nursing and midwifery activities, supervise staff rosters and ensure adequate coverage.
- Oversee patient triage, assessment, treatment, education and follow‑up, and manage referrals for high‑risk cases.
- Monitor patient flow from registration through discharge, identify bottlenecks and implement improvements.
- Maintain inventory of essential medicines, supplies and equipment, report stock‑outs and ensure proper storage.
- Lead quality‑assurance activities, conduct clinical audits, report adverse events and support continuous improvement of OPD services.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Midwifery or Nursing; Master’s or postgraduate degree in Midwifery, Public Health or Sexual and Reproductive Health is preferred.
- Valid registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of the candidate’s country.
- Minimum 7 years of clinical midwifery experience, with at least the last 2 years in a managerial role within a maternity outpatient setting.
- Demonstrated experience in clinical audits, quality‑improvement initiatives, staff training and capacity building.
- Experience working in resource‑limited healthcare environments.
