Chief of Party – Sierra Leone Malaria Activity

About the role

The Chief of Party (COP) will lead the implementation of the Abt Global Central Mechanism in Sierra Leone, coordinating malaria vector‑control and HIV/AIDS service delivery across the country. Reporting to the U.S.-based Project Management Director, the COP acts as the primary liaison with the Ministry of Health, National Malaria Program, U.S. Embassy and other key stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Represent Abt Global and the project to the Ministry of Health, National Malaria Program, U.S. Embassy and other partners.
• Set and pursue a results‑oriented program strategy in consultation with government and donor stakeholders.
• Lead day‑to‑day execution of the firm‑fixed‑award, ensuring all contractual milestones, acceptance criteria and payment triggers are met on schedule.
• Manage competing priorities while maintaining full compliance with the statement of work and contract requirements.
• Establish country‑team milestone reviews and promptly escalate any potential issues affecting scope, funding or timelines.
• Oversee financial and administrative compliance, ensuring activities are completed on‑time and within budget.

Required profile

• Extensive experience managing large‑scale health programmes in low‑resource settings.
• Proven ability to work with government ministries, donor agencies and international partners.
• Strong leadership and strategic planning skills.
• Demonstrated competence in budget and contract management.

Required skills

• Knowledge of malaria vector‑control interventions (ITN distribution, IRS, spatial emanators).
• Experience with HIV/AIDS prevention, testing and treatment service delivery.
• Familiarity with national Health Management Information Systems (HMIS) and DHIS2 platforms.
• Expertise in entomological surveillance and insecticide‑resistance monitoring.
