Midwife Clinical Educator

About the role

The Midwife Clinical Educator will strengthen the knowledge, clinical competence, and leadership of midwives and maternity staff at Koidu Government Hospital. Working closely with the maternity leadership team, the role supports evidence‑based, respectful, and safe maternity care through structured teaching, mentorship, and quality‑improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver a structured, evidence‑based clinical education, mentorship and preceptorship program for midwives, nurses, and maternity health workers.
• Provide bedside coaching, clinical supervision, and mentorship for newly recruited midwives, interns, students, and junior staff.
• Conduct regular skills‑training sessions and simulation‑based learning for obstetric and neonatal emergencies, including postpartum hemorrhage, neonatal resuscitation, hypertensive disorders, and safe cesarean‑section care.
• Develop and maintain competency checklists, assessment tools, and evaluate training outcomes.
• Promote adherence to national guidelines, support quality‑improvement projects, and participate in clinical audits, case reviews, and maternal‑perinatal death surveillance.

Required profile

• Qualified midwife or nurse with experience in maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health (RMNCAH).
• Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and provide clinical supervision.
• Strong commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and evidence‑based practice.
