Obstetrics and Gynecology Consultant

About the role

Partners in Health is looking for an experienced Obstetrics and Gynecology Consultant to join the Maternal Center of Excellence at Koidu Government Hospital in Kono District, Sierra Leone. The role involves delivering high‑quality reproductive and maternal health services and collaborating with the Ministry of Health on program development.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic clinical care to patients at the Maternal Center of Excellence.
• Supervise and mentor junior medical staff and support teams within the department.
• Develop and implement work plans and medical education initiatives in partnership with the Sierra Leone Ministry of Health.
• Participate in quality‑improvement projects aimed at enhancing maternal and newborn outcomes.
• Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with national health guidelines.

Required profile

• Medical degree with board certification or equivalent qualification in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
• Minimum of several years of clinical experience in obstetric and gynecologic care, preferably in low‑resource settings.
• Demonstrated ability to lead clinical teams and supervise staff.
• Willingness to commit to a minimum 12‑month assignment in Sierra Leone.

Required skills

• Clinical expertise in obstetrics and gynecology.
• Ability to conduct clinical supervision and mentorship.
• Experience with program planning and implementation.
