Research and Policy Associate

About the role

This role advances SLCCIA's mission by driving evidence-based policy advocacy and building dialogue between the public and private sectors. It covers structured research, data collection, drafting of strategic documents and engagement with members to monitor and influence business environment reforms. The incumbent coordinates issue tracking and follow-up, helping shape policies that support a thriving private sector.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out desk research and collect quantitative and qualitative data on trade, investment and the business environment
• Help research, write and finalize quarterly policy position papers with verified evidence and references
• Gather member and sector insights through surveys, interviews and committee meetings, then summarise recurring challenges for leadership
• Draft background notes, briefing materials, consultation summaries and first drafts of policy submissions or speaking points under supervision
• Manage a centralised policy evidence library, source records and a calendar of consultations, legislative activities and deadlines
• Facilitate public-private dialogue meetings and oversee a tracking system for commitments, responsible parties and responses
• Aid in distributing and archiving policy documents and producing concise updates on research, consultations and advocacy tasks

Required profile

• Proven ability to conduct desk research and gather data on economic and business topics
• Experience collecting and synthesising stakeholder feedback through various engagement methods
• Ability to support high-level meetings and manage follow-up actions
• Attention to detail in tracking commitments and monitoring external responses
