Carbon Technical Analyst – Sierra Leone Projects

About the role
The Carbon Technical Analyst will transform complex geospatial, field, ecological and carbon‑accounting data into clear, defensible documentation for high‑integrity nature‑based solutions projects in Sierra Leone. This position sits at the intersection of technical writing and remote‑sensing validation, supporting the delivery of carbon credit and restoration projects.
Key responsibilities
- Author Project Design Documents, Monitoring Reports, technical appendices and evidence packs for third‑party validation and verification audits.
- Translate geospatial, field, ecological and carbon‑accounting outputs into structured, defensible written documentation aligned with Verra methodologies and CCB requirements.
- Prepare concise top‑down reports for senior management, investors and project partners, clearly distinguishing findings, assumptions, risks and recommendations.
- Conduct geospatial and MRV analyses, including land‑cover classification, change detection, stratification, baseline assessment and degradation/restoration analysis.
- Integrate satellite, drone and field data into monitoring systems that combine field observations, remote‑sensing outputs and carbon accounting.
- Collaborate with field teams to ensure data quality and consistency for project documentation.
Required profile
- Legal right to work in Sierra Leone and/or the United Kingdom.
- Top‑tier Sierra Leonean or African candidate willing to relocate, or exceptional international candidate (particularly UK‑based) able to travel to Sierra Leone 3‑4 times per year.
- Experience in technical writing for carbon or restoration projects and familiarity with Verra methodologies, CCB requirements and audit processes.
- Strong analytical mindset and ability to work closely with multidisciplinary field teams.
