Senior Driver – Logistics (12-month contract)

About the role

The Senior Driver will support Save the Children’s logistics operations in Sierra Leone, ensuring the safe and efficient use of the vehicle fleet. Reporting to the Logistics Manager and working closely with programme and area managers, the role is essential for maintaining fleet integrity and supporting field activities.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the good condition and proper use of all SCI vehicles and motorbikes.
• Enforce the vehicle policy and ensure timely completion of service and maintenance documentation.
• Secure vehicles, manage fueling, and verify that all drivers adhere to SCI rules.
• Check security notices before travel and plan movements accordingly.
• Organise and supervise daily fleet inspections, confirming documents, equipment, fluids and fuel levels.
• Arrange necessary supplies and services, and ensure vehicles are kept clean.
• Communicate vehicle needs and conditions to teams, assist with incident reporting and follow‑up actions.
• Transmit all vehicle‑related reports, forms and invoices to the Fleet/Mechanic Officer and maintain accurate filing.
• Keep vehicle keys in a secure location and report any defects, however minor.
• Supervise internal and external maintenance activities for all SCI vehicles.

Required profile

• Experience supervising drivers and managing a fleet in a logistics environment.
• Ability to work under the Supply Chain Coordinator and coordinate with programme managers, NGOs, local authorities and security personnel.
• Level 3 Child Safeguarding awareness, with responsibility to protect children and report concerns.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
