Construction & Project Manager

About the role

Our client operates an 18,000‑hectare plantation in Sierra Leone and is seeking a Construction & Project Manager to lead all civil construction, infrastructure and maintenance activities on site. The role will oversee a large team, manage subcontractors and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to high technical standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise all construction works, including new builds, renovations and a housing programme delivering 14 housing blocks per year.
• Manage technical infrastructure such as electrical and water distribution systems and the transition of a solar installation for the management camp.
• Oversee facilities maintenance, air‑conditioning systems and the on‑site workshop (carpentry, metal fabrication, hydroform brick production).
• Lead project studies, scope and design, ensuring feasibility, cost control and operational integration.
• Maintain a structured system for intervention requests, planning, prioritisation and reporting to HQ on a weekly and monthly basis.

Required profile

• Civil engineer with at least 10 years of experience in construction, infrastructure or industrial project management.
• Proven ability to supervise large teams (≈70 staff) and manage multiple subcontractors.
• Hands‑on site management experience in remote or plantation environments.
• Strong organisational, reporting and quality‑control skills.

Required skills

• Civil engineering and project‑management expertise.
• Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD or equivalent).
• Electrical and water distribution system knowledge.
• Solar installation management.
• Workshop management including carpentry, joinery, metal fabrication and welding.
• Hydroform brick production.
• Understanding of EH&S regulations.
