About the role
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking an experienced consultant to conduct a stock‑take and baseline study of the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP) process and its implementation in Sierra Leone. The assignment will support UNEP’s Biodiversity and Land Branch in delivering actionable recommendations and data resources for future reporting to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).
Key responsibilities
- Prepare a comprehensive stock‑take/baseline report detailing findings and analysis.
- Provide recommendations for updating NBSAP national targets and indicators.
- Supply metadata for targets and contribute input for the upcoming National Report to the CBD Conference of the Parties.
- Establish a data bank to facilitate future reporting.
- Identify and document available funding streams to support NBSAP implementation.
Required profile
- Proven experience with biodiversity policy, NBSAP development, and CBD reporting processes.
- Familiarity with UNEP’s ecosystem‑based approaches and the NBSAP Accelerator Partnership.
- Strong analytical and report‑writing abilities.
- Ability to work onsite in Sierra Leone for a three‑month period.
