Senior Midwife

About the role

This Senior Midwife reports directly to the Senior Response Supervisor and acts as the clinical and operational anchor of the Centre, delivering high-quality, trauma-informed care to survivors. The role covers medical assessments, emergency interventions and follow-up, while also driving forensic documentation, managing pharmacy resources and leading a multidisciplinary team through mentorship and quality assurance.

Key responsibilities

• Perform initial medical evaluations, emergency interventions and ongoing care for survivors, in line with safety and quality standards
• Coordinate forensic examinations with the Centre's medical doctor and ensure legal documentation is completed accurately and stored securely
• Manage pharmacy operations: inventory control, stock requisition, expiration tracking and regular audits
• Champion informed consent, strict confidentiality and culturally responsive practices
• Deliver and supervise trauma-informed counseling, develop safety plans and conduct home visits or follow-ups; involve families where suitable
• Maintain case documentation and share information across the multidisciplinary team
• Build referral networks with hospitals, police, legal aid and shelters, and liaise with external medical experts for legal testimony when needed
• Coach nursing and counseling staff, organize skills drills and case reviews, and run quality assurance inspections on facility readiness, equipment and records
• Help define performance goals, identify training gaps and organize refresher courses, and set up feedback loops with survivors
• Oversee logistics, procurement requests and monthly reporting, and work with prevention and outreach teams to raise awareness about gender-based violence
