Pharmacy Technician – Hospital Pharmacy

About the role

The Pharmacy Technician works under the supervision of a Licensed Pharmacist to ensure safe, efficient, and ethical delivery of pharmaceutical services at Kono District Hospital, supporting both inpatient and outpatient care.

Key responsibilities

• Accurately dispense medications, verify prescriptions, label and document all dispensed items, and reinforce patient counseling.
• Maintain accurate stock records, conduct routine inventory checks, manage expiries, and coordinate with the warehouse and pharmacy supervisor for timely deliveries.
• Control and account for all medicines, including narcotics and psychotropics, and report any discrepancies or incidents.
• Collaborate with nursing and medical staff to ensure correct medication availability and documentation in wards.
• Promote rational use of medicines, adhere to infection‑prevention standards, and keep the pharmacy environment clean and safe.
• Prepare and submit monthly consumption and reporting documents, support audits, and mentor junior technicians.

Required profile

• Diploma in Pharmacy from a recognized institution.
• Minimum two years of experience in a hospital setting; experience with psychiatric medications is a plus.
• Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and teamwork abilities.
• High ethical standards, confidentiality, and professional proficiency in English.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to manage inventory, stock reconciliation, and medication control processes.
