About the role
The National Project Technical Specialist will support the implementation of the GCF‑funded climate risk management project in Sierra Leone. Working under the National Project Coordinator, the specialist provides technical expertise to develop the Full National Adaptation Plan (NAP) and to engage stakeholders across chiefdom, district and national levels.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the National Project Coordinator in overall project coordination and stakeholder engagement.
- Provide technical advice on adaptation planning governance, evidence generation, private‑sector engagement and financing.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments, sectoral studies and research to inform the NAP.
- Facilitate consultations with government agencies, regional bodies (ECOWAS, CILSS, etc.) and local partners.
- Report administrative and managerial issues to the FAO Representative in Sierra Leone and programmatic issues to the Assistant FAO Representative.
Required profile
- Relevant university degree in agriculture, environment, climate change or related field.
- Experience working on climate adaptation, national planning or development projects in West Africa.
- Strong understanding of gender integration and stakeholder consultation processes.
